Kylian Mbappé's participation in the upcoming Euro 2024 group stage matches is uncertain due to an injury sustained at the end of yesterday's match against Austria (1:0).
The French Football Federation has officially confirmed that medical staff diagnosed Mbappé with a fractured nose. However, they have determined that surgery is not necessary at this stage. Mbappé will have to play with a special mask for the remainder of the tournament.
“Kylian Mbappé returns to the base camp of the French national team. Kylian Mbappé suffered a broken nose during the second part of the Austria-France held this Monday in Düsseldorf. The captain of France was treated first by the medical staff and Dr. Franck Le Gall, who diagnosed him with a nose fracture. Mbappé will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future”, the statement read.
Yesterday, Mbappé had several scoring opportunities but was unable to net his first career goal in the European Championships. The 29-year-old forward has played 79 matches for the French national team, scoring 47 goals.
In the next round of Euro 2024, France will face the Netherlands. The match will take place on June 21 in Leipzig.
