Erling Haaland has become only the sixth player in history to score multiple goals in each of his first two World Cup matches.

Details: The Norwegian striker once again netted a brace at the 2026 World Cup, joining an elite group of sharpshooters who kicked off football’s biggest tournament in spectacular fashion.

Previously, only five footballers had achieved this feat: Guillermo Stabile in 1930, Sándor Kocsis in 1954, Just Fontaine in 1958, Grzegorz Lato in 1974, and Harry Kane in 2018.

Now Haaland joins their ranks. The forward continues to dazzle with his prolific scoring and, from the very first matches at the World Cup, proves he’s ready to contend for the tournament’s top scorer title.

Reminder: Earlier, Haaland brought his tally for the Norwegian national team to 59 goals and extended his scoring streak for Norway to 12 consecutive matches.
