Polokwane City coach Phuthi Mohafe on facing Mamelodi Sundowns twice in less than a week: It's unfortunate that we face them again in a short period
Phuti Mohafe describes Polokwane City facing title chasers Mamelodi Sundowns twice in less than a week as ‘unfortunate’.
Mohafe said his side have little time in preparing for the clash this afternoon at Loftus Versveld against the title chasing Betway Premiership defending champions.
Sundowns defeated Polokwane City by an odd goal in midweek at Seshego Stadium in front of a capacity crowd and face them again today.
Miguel Cardoso’s Sundowns enter their Loftus Versveld home ground atop of the PSL standings with 61 points, two more than second placed Orlando Pirates, with the aim of extending that point lead.
Mohafe sees this afternoon’s match as a mountain to climb for his side.
“It doesn’t matter either way because you have to play any team at any given moment,” said Mohafe.
“So it is so unfortunate that we are playing them in a period of three days.
“So it gives us a lesser time to prepare thoroughly but we have to go and play against them.
“So it is one of the teams and it is one of the situations that forces us to play them within the space of three days.”
The match starts at 3pm.
