Mamelodi Sundowns are five points clear ahead of Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership after a resounding 3-0 win over Polokwane City at Loftus
Mamelodi Sundowns are now five points clear of second place Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership following their 3-0 victory over Polokwane City.
Today’s win is the second for the Brazilians against Polokwane City in a space of four days as they won 1-0 in Seshego in midweek.
And it was a crucial three points in the title race as now Orlando Pirates trail them by five points after Tashreeq Matthews, Iqraam Rayners and Nuno Santos scored at Loftus Versveld.
It was a one sided affair in Pretoria with Sundowns dictating most of the proceedings under the sunny sun in the South African capital city.
Polokwane had a chance to pull a goal back from the penalty spot but captain and striker Puleng Marema failed to convert the spot kick.
The consolation for the team from Limpopo is that they are still in the top eight as they are on the sixth spot.
But to ensure they secure their top eight finish they would need to pull up their socks as Durban City, Golden Arrows, Siwelele FC and Stellenbosch FC have a chance to overtake them on the table.
