Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena on the title race: We are playing to win the Betway Premiership title and we cannot be shy about it
Teboho Mokoena was thrilled to see the Betway Premiership trophy yesterday at Loftus Versveld.
Mokoena was named Man of the Match in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 3-0 victory over Polokwane City in a PSL game, which was largely dominated by the home side.
Iqraam Rayners, Tashreeq Matthews and Nuno Santos scored the goals for Miguel Cardoso’s side as they continue to tighten their grip atop of the PSL standings.
Sundowns are now five points clear of second placed side Orlando Pirates who have 59 points with a game lesser.
Mokoena was vocal about how they want to win this season’s title which could be their ninth in succession.
“We take it one game at a time, but it was nice to see the trophy today,” he said on SuperSport TV when asked about the title race.
“Of course, we’re playing to win it, we can’t be shy about that.”
Mokoena was also impressed with his individual display and that of his team as a collective.
“It’s very good to be here again, it’s the first one of the season,” he added.
“I think the team played very well. I think we started a little bit slow but we came back to the party and I think we deserve the result.”
Sundowns next play Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday night in what promises to be a pulsating match as the title race intensifies.
