Pleasant memories for Bafana Bafana. The history of encounters between South Africa and Cameroon
Today in Rabat, the national teams of South Africa and Cameroon will battle for a spot in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Kick-off is set for 20:00 Central European Time.
Interestingly, this will be only the second-ever meeting between these two sides at the Africa Cup of Nations. Their first clash on this stage came back in 1996—a tournament that ultimately saw Bafana Bafana lift the trophy.
In total, this fixture will mark the 10th meeting in the history of South Africa and Cameroon’s rivalry. Remarkably, Bafana Bafana have only lost once—back in a 1992 friendly. The South Africans have claimed victory in three encounters, while five matches have ended all square.
It’s worth noting that the winner of this match will face the victor of the Morocco vs Tanzania clash in the quarterfinals.
