Osayi-Samuel Hails Iwobi’s Vision After Eagles’ Big Win

Bright Osayi-Samuel has praised Alex Iwobi’s intelligence and passing after Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique at AFCON 2025. Goals from Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealed the Super Eagles’ first clean sheet of the tournament.

Although Iwobi neither scored nor assisted, his line-splitting passes opened the Mozambican defence. Osayi-Samuel described the outing as a complete performance, saying, “Phenomenal game… the clean sheet, as a defender, is what I’m going to say was very important today.”

He credited head coach Eric Chelle for Nigeria’s improvement, noting, “The way we start games, the tactical setup, it’s all down to the manager… there’s confidence within this team.”

Osayi-Samuel also highlighted Iwobi’s quality, stating, “You have someone like Alex [Iwobi] who threads the line like no one is there…” Nigeria will learn their quarter-final opponents later tonight.
