Orlando Pirates return to the top of the Betway Premeirship table with a 3-0 victory over AmaZulu at Orlando Amstel Arena this afternoon

Orlando Pirates returned to the top of the Betway Premiership after dispatching AmaZulu 3-0 this afternoon at Orlando Amstel Arena.

The victory in Soweto sees Pirates leapfrog table-toppers and PSL defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns with just two points.

But Sundowns played two games less than Pirates who have played 25 matches.

AmaZulu were not of a challenge to Pirates as Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men dominated the proceedings from the outset.

The defeat for Arthur Zwane means his hopes of finishing third on the standings are slowly diminishing.

Yanela Mbuthuma, Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng scored the goals for Pirates at the Soweto venue.

As much as Pirates are now on top they now depend on other teams to stop Sundowns from regaining the top of the PSL standings.

In midweek they face Stellenbosch FC who beat Sekhukhune United 3-1 last night.

Perhaps that Stellies are aiming for the top eight finish may see them give Sundowns a run for their money as the PSL defending champions are known for their precision.
