Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha on the title race: We still believe we are very much in the reckoning for the Premiership title race

Thalente Mbatha reveals that Orlando Pirates still believe they are in the Betway Premiership title race.

The Pirates midfielder is speaking at the backdrop of the 2-2 draw the Sea Robbers played against Richards Bay on Friday night which looks to dent their PSL title charge.

That result at a sold out Umhlathuze Sports Complex look to have derailed their challenge to topple Sundowns from winning their ninth PSL title in succession.

Mbatha’s Pirates are second on the standings with 55 points and they have a played a game more than first place Mamelodi Sundowns, who have 56 points.

“For us, I believe that we’re still in the race,” he said on Orlando Pirates TV.

“And, we have to continue playing our game coz we have to take it one game at a time.

“We are running our own race, and I believe that is something we must continue doing.”

Pirates next AmaZulu at Orlando Amstel Arena this Saturday where they will be looking to restore their title challenge.
