Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou on the PSL title talk: We are not counting our eggs as the chickens is yet to hatch is our approach to the race
Abdeslam Ouaddou has not yet envisaged himself holding the Betway Premiership trophy in his hands.
The Orlando Pirates coach does not see his side’s upcoming two PSL matches as potential title deciders as they first face Mamelodi Sundowns tomorrow night and Kaizer Chiefs in a week’s time.
Ouaddou perhaps is being economical with the truth as both games are likely to show direction of where the PSL title might head to in May.
Both Sundowns and Chiefs are title contenders as they are within the same margin of points of Pirates so far this season.
Pirates are on top with 38 points, Sundowns are second with 32, Sekhukhune United are third with 32 also and Chiefs are fourth with 30.
Despite the lead on the standings, Pirates coach is still not committing to Pirates being destined to annex the PSL trophy.
”I’ll answer you with a one French saying that we don’t have to sell the bear’s skin before the bear is killed,” said Ouaddou, meaning that they do not want to see themselves winning the league before actually winning it.
“We play games after games, we know exactly what we want, we know which target we want to reach.
“But we don’t have to think about what happened in three, four months. We just have one vision.
Ouaddou can now be philosophical but the fact is that the upcoming games against Sundowns and Chiefs do not have a huge bearing on where the PSL title would go.
The Pirates-Sundowns game at FNB Stadium tomorrow night starts at 7.30pm.
