Oh no! Barcelona leader skips training. Is it serious?
Barcelona have received an unexpected reason for concern just before their trip to Mestalla.
Details: According to journalist Alfredo Martínez, Lamine Yamal trained on Friday but did not take part in Saturday's work on the pitch. The report does not indicate that the winger has suffered a new injury, so for now there is no confirmation of a serious physical problem.
Martínez reports that Barcelona are scheduled to fly to Valencia at 18:30. Hansi Flick's team face Valencia at Mestalla on Sunday, September 6, before turning their attention to the Champions League meeting with Feyenoord on Wednesday, September 9.
The packed schedule makes workload management especially important for Flick. The possibility of Yamal being managed carefully ahead of the European fixture therefore remains on the table, although Barcelona have not announced any medical problem involving the winger.
There was positive news elsewhere in the squad. Gabriel Jesus and Gavi trained with the group, giving Flick additional options ahead of the Valencia match. Both players had already completed Friday's session with their teammates.
It is worth noting that Yamal scored twice in Barcelona's most recent LaLiga match, a 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano. His first goal in that game was also the 50th of his Barcelona career.
