Mozambique President Promises Mambas Big Cash Reward for Nigeria Win

Mozambique President Daniel Francisco Chapo has praised the Mambas for reaching the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and urged them to go further. Mozambique finished third in Group F and will face Nigeria, one of the tournament’s standout teams, despite a 2-1 loss to Cameroon.

In a New Year message, Chapo called the qualification unprecedented, saying it filled the country with pride and praising the players’ courage and discipline. To boost morale, he announced a bonus of 500,000 meticais, N11.3 million, for each player and coach if they defeat the Super Eagles. The teams meet January 5.
