Miguel Cardoso on Lebohang Mothiba's penalty miss against Polokwane City: We do not relate to mistakes but to possibilities to become better
Miguel Cardoso did not see Lebo Mothiba’s missed penalty against Polokwane City on Wednesday night.
The Sundowns coach said when the Brazilians marksman walked towards the spot-kick he was not focused on it and only heard he missed when he turned his eyes on the match at Seshego Stadium.
The former Bafana Bafana striker attempted a stylish spotkick in form of the panenka but it was saved by Polokwane City goalkeeper, Lindokuhle Mathebula.
“I was looking in the back and a little bit also in the sky,” said Cardoso of Mothiba’s kick.
“I confess I didn’t really know what happened. I think the goalkeeper was going on another side so he tried to play on that side. Look Lebo is a very good penalty shooter, very good.
“If he didn’t make the goal today, it was not because he didn’t want just because he didn’t he could not. So it’s what it is.
“Teams get up in the moments that there’s one that doesn’t do something and go for that. We don’t relate with the mistakes we look, analyze them, we relate with the possibility to make better in the next ones.”
Sundowns face Polokwane City tomorrow at Loftus Versveld in the Betway Premiership match.
