After the completion of the first round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, data on the tournament's fastest players has been released—and the list has already sparked plenty of surprise.
The undisputed leader is Australia’s defender Jordan Bos, who clocked a blistering 36.7 km/h, making him the fastest player of the competition so far. Manchester City’s star forward Erling Haaland took second place with a top speed of 36.5 km/h, sharing the spot with his teammate Abdulkodir Khusanov, who posted an identical result.
The biggest shock of the rankings? Kylian Mbappé only managed ninth place. The French forward hit 35.1 km/h, falling behind several players despite his reputation as one of the world’s quickest footballers.
