Former West Ham and Jamaica national team striker Michail Antonio is set to face a retrial after a previous guilty verdict in a traffic violation case was overturned.

The 36-year-old footballer was due for sentencing after being found guilty in absentia in April for failing to provide driver information in connection with an incident recorded in March 2025 in Birmingham. At that time, his Lamborghini Urus was caught on camera speeding—clocked at 50 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone.

However, at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court, Antonio stated that several months before the alleged offence, he had handed the car over to a company for sale and was no longer in possession of the vehicle. He also pointed out that, at the time, he was unable to drive due to a serious injury sustained in December 2024 in a Ferrari crash in the Epping Forest area. Ultimately, the judge quashed the guilty verdict, and the case is set to be reviewed again in March next year.
