Last Friday, the Australian cricket team suffered their first defeat to South Africa in the three-Test tour of the West Indies.

Details: According to the coaching staff and fans, the Proteas lost due to Marnus Labuschagne's underwhelming performance.

Labuschagne opened the scoring in the final match of the World Test Championship (WTC), which ended in defeat to South Africa last week, but managed only 17 and 22 runs at Lord’s.

His last Test century for Australia came back in July 2023 against England in Manchester.

Since then, Marnus Labuschagne has averaged just 24.7 runs per match with the bat in his last 16 games.

Selection committee chairman George Bailey also commented on the 30-year-old's form:

"Marnus at his best can be a truly vital member of this team. He understands that his performances haven't met the standards we or he expects.
We'll continue to work with him on the areas of his game that we believe he needs to rediscover. We still value his skillset and expect him to rise to the challenge in a positive way," said the selector.

It is reported that Sam Konstas and Josh Inglis will feature in the next match against the West Indies. The 19-year-old Konstas will play his third match for Australia and his first since January.

He made a brilliant debut against India in December, scoring 60 runs off just 65 balls, opening the batting and producing several bold, precise shots against Jasprit Bumrah.

Konstas managed only 53 runs across his next three innings, but the teenager's undeniable talent continues to inspire the selectors.

Inglis will also play in the third Test—he scored 102 on debut against Sri Lanka in January.
