Manchester United interested in Bayern Munich defender

Manchester United has shown interest in Bayern Munich and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt.

According to The Athletic, United is seriously contemplating the acquisition of the Dutch defender.

Negotiations between the clubs have not yet commenced, and there is no absolute certainty that the transfer will occur; however, the defender has become a specific target for the Red Devils, independent of their interest in Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.

United's interest aligns with the desires of head coach Erik ten Hag, who previously worked with de Ligt at Ajax and would welcome a reunion with the player.

It was earlier reported that Bayern Munich has prepared a list of six players who may leave the club during this transfer window, including de Ligt.

Interestingly, a Manchester United legend recently surprised many by suggesting a name that ten Hag should bring into the team.
