Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has spoken after Nigeria’s painful penalty shoot-out loss to Morocco, admitting the defeat took a heavy toll and that Egypt is not yet on his mind. Eric Chelle’s side fell short of their usual standard and were eliminated after 120 draining minutes in Rabat.
“It was a tough game… to lose on penalties is even more difficult,” Lookman said. He praised the hosts, adding, “I think a strong team… it went to penalties.” Asked about the third-place playoff, the Atalanta man was honest: “To be honest, not really thinking about… because of the disappointment of tonight.”
Nigeria, pre-tournament favourites, now aim to regroup and finish strongly against Egypt in Saturday’s bronze-medal match this season finale.
