Mozambique coach Chiquinho Conde has warned Nigeria’s Super Eagles to brace for an all-or-nothing battle when both sides clash in Monday night’s AFCON last-16 tie in Fès. Despite Nigeria’s status as clear favourites, Conde said his team would approach the game with belief and discipline, stressing that knockout football leaves no room for errors.
Acknowledging the Super Eagles’ pedigree and expectations, the 60-year-old insisted Mozambique are not intimidated after competitive group-stage outings. “Mozambique have shown that we’ve a strong team… but now [AFCON Round of 16] it is kill-kill,” he said, adding that Nigeria are “favourite” but his side would play with “humility, tranquility and a lot of responsibility…”.
Nigeria arrive unbeaten against Mozambique in five meetings and are chasing another deep run as three-time champions. Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are expected to lead the attack, with Wilfred Ndidi set to return. Mozambique, in their fifth AFCON, hope progress.
