Kaizer Chiefs interested in on loan Stellenbosch FC striker Tshegofatso Mabasa
Kaizer Chiefs are interested in Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.
Mabasa is on loan at Stellenbosch FC from Pirates and his deal with the Soweto giants expires next month.
This allows him to have signed a pre-contract with a team of his choice by now but the left-footed marksman is yet to commit to any club.
Amakhosi have emerged as one side interested in bringing him to Naturena upon the expiration of his stay at the Cape Winelands club, where his loan spell ends this weekend.
With Pirates having not exercised their option on the striker's contract, indications are that the Betway Premiership title chasers may no longer need Mabasa.
Even letting him go on loan was probably the clearest of indications that Mabasa is surplus to requirements at the Sea Robbers.
With Chiefs interested, Mabasa may as well be a subject of a transfer duel as his coach at Stellies, Gavin Hunt, is keen on retaining the player for next season.
