JUBILANT!! Durban City coach Pitso Dladla after winning the Nedbank Cup: Congratulations to everyone in the club who contributed to our win today
Pitso Dladla’s excitement knows no bounds.
The Durban City coach is elate and in cloud nine after his side beat TS Galaxy 2-1 to win the Nedbank Cup yesterday evening.
City’s Jean Lwamba and Mfanafuthi Mkhize netted the goals for the Kwa-Zulu Natal side at New Peter Mokaba Stadium with an own goal from Lwamba the only goal for Galaxy.
Speaking to SuperSport TV after the historic victory, which marked City as the maiden side from Kwa-Zulu Natal to win the Ke Yona competition, Dladla cut an excited figure.
The coach also paid tribute to various role players in his club for the win.
“Congratulations to the players; we’ve got a group of players that is resilient. A group of players that’s got a never-die attitude,” he said.
“For me, it’s just to thank them. We’ve been through tough games and we had that belief that we’ll do it.
“I also want to thank the technical team, coach Ashraf Hendricks, coach Rowen Fernandez, our conditioning guys – Michael, Amo. Our medical team, Alex, everybody. Our kit manager Zola, our logistics manager Manzini. All of them.
“Mamzo at the training grounds, our ground man Lunga, everyone contributed.
“I know our Chairman, GM, they will thank the other partners because they also supported us through this journey, word of encouragement, resources being injected in this project.
“But, at the end of the day, we wouldn’t have made it if our supporters were not here.
“I’m looking there at the supporters in the stands, I feel like I’m in Chatsworth Stadium.”
