Algerian boxer Iman Khelif's participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics has become one of the biggest controversies of the Games. The athlete was disqualified by the International Boxing Association (IBA) for elevated testosterone levels, but the International Olympic Committee (IOC) still allowed her to compete. Ultimately, she went on to win an Olympic gold medal.

And today, the case has taken a new turn.

Details: The IBA has officially announced that it is suing the IOC over its decision to allow Khelif to compete.

Official statement from the IBA:

"Despite being notified about the disqualification of Iman Khelif and Lin Yu-ting, the IOC ignored critical information and allowed both athletes to participate in the Olympic qualifying tournament and, subsequently, the 2024 Olympic Games, where they won gold medals.

The IBA is filing an official complaint with the Swiss Attorney General against the IOC’s actions, which facilitated the participation of athletes who were ineligible for the Olympic boxing tournament in Paris. Under Swiss law, any act or omission that jeopardizes competition participants requires investigation and may be grounds for criminal proceedings. Similar complaints will also be filed with the Attorneys General of France and the United States."

Reminder: Earlier, Iman Khelif stated that she was prepared to take legal action against a French journalist who claimed she was hiding her true gender.
