“I want to win”: Bryan Mbeumo ahead of Cameroon v Ivory Coast

The Indomitable Lions and the Elephants will face off on Saturday 3 October in an international friendly at the Ebimpe Olympic Stadium in Abidjan.

But ahead of this high-profile fixture, Bryan Mbeumo has set out his ambitions. Speaking at a press conference on Friday 2 October, the Cameroonian striker acknowledged the importance of this type of match. Against the Elephants, the Manchester United player intends above all to seize the opportunity to secure a victory for Cameroon. He will therefore approach this fixture with the ambition of coming out on top.

“Every player dreams of playing this sort of match, and I’m no exception. I’ll be very happy to win. But I think the performance is important. As a competitor, I want to win.”

Cameroon and Ivory Coast will face off after the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Indomitable Lions have secured one win and drawn one match, whilst the Elephants have a perfect record with two wins from two matches.

The friendly match on Saturday 3 October will give David Pagou and Hervé Renard the chance to test new tactics and assess their players’ form as the international break draws to a close.
