History Made: Ismaila Sarr Becomes Senegal's All-Time Leading FIFA World Cup Goalscorer
Ismaila Sarr has etched his name into Senegalese football history after becoming the country's all-time leading goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup.
The 28-year-old forward has been one of the standout performers of the tournament, scoring four goals during the group stage before adding another in Senegal's Round of 32 clash against Belgium.
His fifth goal of the tournament saw him surpass the previous record of 3 goals, which was held by the late Papa Bouba Diop, and become the nation's highest scorer in World Cup history. The strike also saw Sarr equal the record for the most goals scored by an African player in a single FIFA World Cup edition.
