Arsenal claimed a crucial victory in the headline fixture of the ninth round of the English Premier League. The London side edged Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, with Kai Havertz scoring the only goal of the game.

The German forward struck in the 16th minute, finishing off a pass from Declan Rice. That goal proved decisive: despite the hosts' efforts to fight back, Arsenal's defense kept a clean sheet.

The significance of the result lies in the fact that the Gunners have finally ended one of the most painful runs in their history against Liverpool. Before this, the London side had gone 13 Premier League matches without a win at Anfield: five draws and eight defeats.

After nine rounds, Arteta's side have collected 24 points and sit alone at the top of the table, three points clear of Manchester City.

It is also worth noting that the last time Arsenal beat Liverpool at Anfield was on September 2, 2012, thanks to goals from Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski. The Gunners' current manager, Mikel Arteta, played the full 90 minutes that day.
