Ajax have pulled off a notable late transfer by adding another Premier League player to their attacking ranks.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland winger Simon Adingra is joining Ajax. The agreement was signed today after the Ivory Coast international successfully completed his medical examination in Amsterdam.

The 24-year-old winger will move to Ajax on loan. Sunderland are set to receive more than €3 million as a loan fee, while the agreement also includes a €16 million option to buy.

Importantly, the purchase clause is not mandatory, meaning Ajax will be able to assess Adingra during the season before deciding whether to make the move permanent. The deal gives the Amsterdam club an experienced and versatile option on the wing without committing immediately to a permanent transfer.

Adingra joined Sunderland from Brighton in the summer of 2025 but later spent part of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Monaco. He has now changed clubs again and will continue his career in the Netherlands.

It is worth noting that Adingra made 14 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Transfermarkt currently values the Ivory Coast international at €22 million.
