Gavin Hunt on Mamelodi Sundowns' Caf Champions League chances against AS FAR: They have a very good squad and I see them winning it this time around

Gavin Hunt sees Mamelodi Sundowns becoming this season’s Caf Champions League champions.

Hunt said Sundowns have what it takes to clinch the continental trophy this time around as they have Moroccan side AS FAR to contend with.

South Africa’s defending PSL champions made it to the final a week ago at Loftus Versveld Stadium when they beat Tunisia's Esperance 2-0 in a two-legged semi-final match.

Hunt, whose Stellenbosch FC side drew 1-1 against Sundowns in midweek, said this time around Miguel Cardoso’s troops will be victorious.

“Have you seen their squad? I can’t comment on the opposition. They’re a fantastic club; they won the league now eight years in a row, and were in the Champions League final,” Hunt told the media.

“They’ve put their money where their mouth is, going out and acquiring big players, which we all can’t get, and you have to give them credit. The best clubs in the world play more games.

“So, I can’t comment on how things are done; it’s got nothing to do with me. But they’ve got a very good squad of players, and they should win the league. I’m sure they will do well; I’m sure they will win the Champions League this year.”

The first leg of the two-legged final is on the 15th of May with Sundowns first playing as hosts and going to Morocco a week later for the return leg.
