Keanu Cupido reveals he played through injection in the Caf Champions League first leg final
The reason behind the miraculous recovery from injury and availability of Keanu Cupido in the Mamelodi Sundowns starting line up has been disclosed.
Cupido was stretched off two weeks ago with a dislocated shoulder when Mamelodi Sundowns drew 1-1 against Kaizer Chiefs and it was feared he will out for long.
But everyone was surprised to see him start against ASFAR on Sunday in the Caf Champions League first leg final on Sunday.
The former Cape Town City defender revealed he took an injection to numb the dislocated shoulder.
"I had to take an injection, but I'll do anything for the badge. If the team needs me I have to be there through pain or whatever else, but I'm happy to be on the field again," said Cupido.
He has been instrumental that his coach preferred he takes an injection ahead of other defenders such as Malibongwe Khoza and Zuko Mdunyelwa.
Cupido added that the return leg in Morocco will be a highly contested tie as Sundowns will go into that game with a 1-0 lead.
