According to Meares, the affected players are allowed to train when they feel well enough.
“We are treating COVID just like any other respiratory illness, but we want to ensure our protocols are as effective as possible. Managing and minimizing these illnesses is an integral part of every Olympic Games,” Meares said.
The protocols include wearing masks and isolating from other team members outside of training sessions. According to Meares, the entire team has undergone testing.
Paris marks the first Olympics since the Tokyo Summer Games in 2021 and the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, both of which were conducted under strict COVID-19 testing protocols and bubbles.
