Brandon Peterson's error against Golden Arrows proved the deciding result at FNB Stadium as Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the MTN8.
The goalkeeper misread a cross from the right, at his near post, which saw Arrows earn a goal from it to see Chiefs knocked out of a competition they missed out on for three years.
But Peterson' coach, Fernando da Cruz, said the goalminder does not deserve any blame.
“I want to watch again the goal because I didn’t watch it,” Da Cruz said via his translator.
"The player [Petersen] missed his cross and when we lose, it’s all the team that lose.
“I don’t want to say we lose because of one player.”
