Special guests from the United States are expected at the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 clash between Algeria and DR Congo.
Details: According to RMC Sport, just ahead of the Round of 16 match between Algeria and DR Congo, it was revealed that a delegation from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation will be present at the AFCON fixture, which is set to take place in Morocco's capital, Rabat.
FBI representatives arrived in Morocco last weekend. Their primary mission: to study and analyze the security system implemented by tournament organizers during the AFCON 2025 matches. American experts will pay special attention to the pre-match organization for the Algeria vs DR Congo encounter.
Reports indicate that FBI agents have already observed the security protocols during the Morocco vs Tanzania match. They analyzed the work of law enforcement, levels of crowd control and screening, the use of high-definition surveillance systems, and drones. A similar inspection will be conducted at the upcoming match in Rabat, with a particular focus on the reception and escort of foreign fans, as well as cooperation between Moroccan police and international security services.
The purpose of the visit is to gather as much information as possible in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This kind of international security cooperation will also be implemented during other major football tournaments this summer.
It is worth noting that the Algeria vs DR Congo match will take place today, January 6, at 17:00 Central European Time.
