Morocco continues its impressive run at the home Africa Cup of Nations, steadily advancing through the knockout stages. After a dominant group stage performance, Walid Regragui’s squad has now booked their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
In the round of 16, the Atlas Lions edged out Tanzania with a narrow victory. The only goal of the match was scored by Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz. For the 26-year-old midfielder, this was his fourth goal of the tournament. With this strike, Díaz became the first player in Morocco’s history to score four goals in a single tournament edition.
It's also worth noting that Brahim Díaz has now scored 12 goals for Morocco. Seven of those came during Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, one in World Cup qualifying, and four in AFCON 2025.
