Adil Boulbina struck deep into extra time to hand Algeria a narrow victory over DR Congo and secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Set free down the left by Ramiz Zerrouki, the substitute beat Aaron Wan-Bissaka, cut inside and fired a 119th-minute right-footed effort that flew over Lionel Mpasi and in off the bar.
The defeat was harsh on DR Congo after an even contest that seemed destined for penalties. Algeria now face Nigeria in Marrakesh on Saturday. Zinedine Zidane watched as goalkeeper Luca kept another clean sheet in a tight, defensive encounter there.
