Faustino Barone Joins Olimpia: “I Came to Learn and Give My Best”

Faustino Barone has arrived in Paraguay to start a new chapter in his career. The 19-year-old Uruguayan striker landed in Asunción on Wednesday to finalize his move to Olimpia, who reached an agreement with River Plate of Montevideo for 70% of his rights, FútbolUy reported.
Barone leaves River Plate after tallying 10 goals in 58 appearances and now takes on his first experience abroad. “It’s a dream to be noticed by a big club. I’m coming with high hopes and a strong desire to learn,” he said upon his arrival at Luque Airport.
Born in Asunción in 2006 while his father, Deivis Barone, was playing for Libertad, Faustino is now returning to his birthplace to wear the jersey of what he called “the biggest club” in Paraguay. “My dad told me how beautiful football is here, but now it’s my turn to represent him and Olimpia with pride,” he added.
Barone will sign a four-year deal and join fellow Uruguayan Gastón Olveira, with whom he shares a close bond. “He played with my dad and has known me since I was little. We spoke, and he told me great things about the club,” Barone shared. Olimpia is also set to sign left-back Lucas Morales from Nacional.
