Manchester United have not abandoned their plans to sign Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde. The English club already tried to land the 22-year-old Spaniard in the summer, but the transfer never materialized. Now, the Red Devils could revisit the option in the January window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United remain seriously interested in Balde. The player’s situation at Barcelona could also change in the winter. Hansi Flick does not view the Spaniard as a first-choice player and has used him just once this season — for 12 minutes against Racing de Santander.
At the same time, Balde turned down a move away from Camp Nou in the summer despite interest from Manchester United. However, his lack of playing time could force the defender to reconsider his decision. The January transfer window could prove decisive for him.
Manchester United need a new left-back. Luke Shaw and Harry Amass currently operate in that position, but both players are under contract until 2027. This season, Michael Carrick has also deployed Patrick Dorgu on the left, although the Dane primarily plays higher up the flank.
