The performance of the England national team at the current European Championship is raising many questions among specialists and experts. Gareth Southgate's team is playing pragmatic football and isn't impressing with their offensive play.

The statistical portal Wyscout published a ranking of teams by pressing intensity (PPDA) after two rounds of Euro 2024. PPDA (Passes Per Defensive Action) shows how many passes the opponent is allowed to make before the team attempts a tackle or interception. This metric only considers actions occurring 40 meters or more from the team's own goal. The lower the PPDA, the more effective the team's high pressing is.

Currently, Germany leads Euro 2024 in this metric with a score of 7.46. England, however, is at the bottom of the ranking with a score of 22.63.
