Eduardo Domínguez Now Stands Alone as Argentina’s Longest-Serving Manager

With Cristian “Kily” González’s departure from Unión, Eduardo Domínguez is now the longest-tenured coach in Argentine football, by a wide margin. The Estudiantes de La Plata manager took charge in March 2023 and has remained in his role for over two years, a rarity in the ever-rotating world of Argentine benches.
According to Cielo Sports, Domínguez now holds a significant lead over his closest competitor, Gustavo Costas of Racing, who celebrated his one-year anniversary four months ago. Until this week, Kily González was closest to Domínguez in terms of tenure, but his stint ended after a 0-0 draw with Defensa y Justicia, just shy of completing two years in charge.
Another coach who recently left the race was Andrés Yllana. The former Gimnasia midfielder resigned from Aldosivi in March 2025 after 48 matches and guiding the club to promotion, ending a brief but noteworthy spell.
Domínguez’s numbers at Estudiantes are solid: 122 games managed, 54 wins, 39 draws, and 29 losses, amounting to a 54.92% success rate. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed, either—he’s recently been approached by Santos in Brazil.
In a league notorious for its coaching instability, Domínguez has become a model of endurance and consistency, proving that results, leadership, and a clear vision can still bring longevity in Argentine football.
