Pedro Troglio is once again being considered for a managerial position in Argentina’s top division. Following his recent departure from Instituto de Córdoba, Troglio has emerged as a strong candidate to take over at Unión de Santa Fe after the confirmed exit of Cristian “Kily” González.
According to Argentine media, Unión’s board has begun evaluating possible successors as the club prepares for a key match against Defensa y Justicia in matchday 13 of the Apertura. With the derby against Newell’s looming, Unión is keen to finalize their coaching decision quickly.
Troglio, a seasoned coach with stints at Gimnasia, Independiente, and Tigre, also enjoyed a successful run with Olimpia in Honduras, earning domestic titles and praise for his management of complex dressing rooms. His availability and track record make him an appealing option for the Tatengue.
Also in the mix is Leonardo Madelón, a club icon who previously led Unión through three separate spells, including historic qualifications for international competitions. Though favored by the fans, Madelón’s return is not guaranteed.
Another name being floated is Martín Palermo, who recently left Olimpia after winning the 2024 Apertura in Paraguay but parted ways following a heavy Libertadores loss. For now, Unión's leadership is weighing its options as it seeks a stable hand for the rest of the campaign.
