Racing Club president Diego Milito stepped forward to ease fans’ concerns over the future of key players. As uncertainty grew following comments from several squad members, the former striker made it clear that the club’s goal is to keep the team together.

“There are no formal offers for any Racing players—just a few calls to ask,” Milito told Radio La Red. “Our idea is to remain competitive. We don’t want to dismantle the squad; we want to retain our players.”

Sporting director Sebastián Saja had previously stated that the club would need to sell in order to generate income, but Milito shifted the emphasis toward continuity. “We want to keep the core intact.”

Regarding signings, Milito responded to head coach Gustavo Costas’ public request for “three or four top-quality reinforcements to fight for the Libertadores.” The president promised additions, though he stressed the need for balance. “We’ll bring in players to strengthen the team. But it depends on what the market offers. Our current squad is strong—other clubs in AFA wish they had even a quarter of our roster.”

Milito also touched on the club’s finances: “I don’t want to go back to the Racing I knew when I was young. We must take care of the club’s finances. Today the institution is stable, and we need to keep it that way. With Gustavo, we’ve aligned our goals: compete without going overboard.”

The president didn’t shy away from acknowledging the club’s weaknesses. “We inherited a club with more debts than income. There’s still a lot to professionalize. Infrastructure is our weakest point, and it’s one of my biggest concerns. We need to complete the Ezeiza training center and upgrade the Tita facility.”

He also shared his vision for the stadium: “El Cilindro is beautiful, but it’s outdated. We’ve been working on a renovation plan. Once it’s viable, we’ll present it. It would mean a lot for our fans and players.”

Milito praised forward Maravilla Martínez as well: “He joined late in his career but has been vital. He’s one of the best strikers on the continent. He’s non-transferable unless someone pays his release clause.”

Lastly, Milito revealed his ambitious dream: to play an international final against Tottenham, following the English club’s Europa League win. “Every time I see FIFA president Gianni Infantino, I push the idea. I’ve contacted AFA, Conmebol, UEFA, even Tottenham. It’s difficult due to scheduling, but I’ll keep trying. No effort is wasted.”
