Barcelona are preparing to face Sevilla with an unexpected change in goal. New signing Dominik Livaković will make his debut between the posts for the Catalan side. The Croatian goalkeeper has been handed a starting opportunity following Joan García’s injury and Wojciech Szczęsny’s underwhelming performance in the previous match.

García suffered a knee injury in the game against Racing and will miss the clash with Sevilla. Szczęsny replaced him, but the Polish veteran made a costly mistake: after receiving a back pass, he lost possession under pressure, allowing the opposition to capitalize. The error led to Racing’s second goal.

Livaković joined Barcelona in the summer but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the team. The 31-year-old Croatian spent most of his career at Dinamo Zagreb and also played for Fenerbahçe. Last season, he was a Girona player, although he did not feature on the pitch. In addition, Livaković is Croatia’s first-choice goalkeeper and won a bronze medal at the 2022 World Cup.
