Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen suffered a muscle injury in the seventh-round La Liga match against Sevilla. The Dane was forced to leave the field after a collision with striker Robbie Ure. Already on the substitutes' bench, the 30-year-old looked distraught, while the medical staff applied ice to the back of his left thigh.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick confirmed the seriousness of the problem after the match. According to the German coach, Christensen will be sidelined for several weeks. The defender will undergo further tests in Barcelona, after which the exact extent of the injury will become clear.

The injury is particularly frustrating for the player himself. Christensen had only just begun to regain an important role in the team after a difficult season last year. Before the match against Sevilla, he had played 492 minutes—almost as many as during the entire previous campaign (551). At the same time, the Dane had started five of eight matches. Christensen also started against Sevilla and had time to register an assist for Raphinha, who equalized.
