"Club World Cash Grab". Seattle Sounders took the field for MLS warm-up in protest shirts

The revamped Club World Cup is just around the corner and set to take place in the United States, but not every MLS team is thrilled about the upcoming tournament.
Details: Ahead of their regular season match, the Seattle Sounders took to the pitch for their pre-game warm-up donning shirts emblazoned with the protest slogan "Club World Cash Grab" and featuring the iconic Monopoly board game character. The back of the shirts read "Fair Share Now."
The MLSPA organization also released a statement voicing support for the protest. In particular, the statement read:
Quote: "For months, the players have privately and respectfully invited the league to discuss bonus terms, but MLS has failed to offer reasonable conditions. Instead of recognizing the contributions of the players who have brought MLS to the global stage, the league—which routinely asks the union to make concessions on the collective agreement—clings to outdated provisions and ignores international standards for what players typically receive from FIFA as prize money in world tournaments."
Reminder: Dailysports previously outlined several reasons why the new Club World Cup might actually be a promising idea.
