CAF Increases AFCON 2025 Winner’s Prize Money to $10 Million
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a major financial boost for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), increasing the winner’s prize money from $7 million to $10 million. The move represents a significant step in CAF’s ongoing efforts to raise the profile, competitiveness, and commercial value of African football.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe made the announcement during an executive committee meeting held in Morocco, ahead of the tournament’s kickoff. He also revealed that the prize money increase is part of wider changes being introduced to improve the overall structure of the competition.
Speaking on the development, Motsepe expressed confidence in the new direction of African football.
“We now have the most exciting new structure for African football,” he said. “Previously, the prize money was less than $5 million. We raised it to $7 million, and now, the winner will receive $10 million,” he added.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
