CAF Confirms Wilfred Ndidi Eligible for Nigeria vs DR Congo World Cup Playoff Final
The Confederation of African Football has officially cleared Wilfred Ndidi to play for the Super Eagles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff final against the Democratic Republic of Congo. The confirmation came through a statement released by the Super Eagles media team, which noted that CAF had reviewed his disciplinary record and ruled him eligible for selection in Sunday’s decisive clash at the Moulay Hassan Stadium.
“CAF has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to feature for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s playoff clash against DR Congo,” the team announced.
Ndidi has been one of Nigeria’s standout performers throughout the playoffs. The Besiktas midfielder delivered a commanding display in the 4–1 semifinal victory over Gabon, wearing the captain’s armband and providing a clever assist for Chidera Ejuke’s goal.
Now that CAF has officially cleared him, Ndidi is poised to make his 71st appearance for Nigeria when they take on the Leopards on Sunday.
The Super Eagles will face DR Congo at 8 p.m. Nigerian time, with the winner securing Africa’s spot in the intercontinental playoff for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
