Borussia Dortmund is very close to reaching a full verbal agreement with Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross, according to German football journalist Florian Plettenberg.

It is noted that the final detail left to clarify is the contract term: it will be either a 2+1 scheme or for 3 years.

Concrete negotiations between the German and English clubs are expected to commence soon. The estimated value of the 33-year-old midfielder is €7–10 million, with one year remaining on his contract with Brighton.

Gross, a 33-year-old midfielder for the German national team, has been with Brighton for seven years after transferring from Ingolstadt.

Earlier reports indicated that Eintracht Frankfurt also has interest in the player. Gross is seen as pivotal to Brighton's plans, particularly under their new head coach Fabian Hurzeler, who aims to build the team around him.

In the past season, Gross appeared in 47 matches for Brighton across all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 13 assists.
