Blow for Enrique! PSG leader injured in first half against Barcelona
Luis Enrique received an alarming setback very early in one of PSG’s biggest Champions League nights.
Details: Ousmane Dembélé was forced to leave the pitch in the 18th minute of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash against Barcelona. The French forward appeared to feel physical discomfort and was unable to continue, with Luis Enrique immediately sending Ferran Torres on in his place.
Dembélé had started the match as the central figure in PSG’s attacking line alongside Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, but his evening against his former club ended almost as soon as it had begun.
The extent of the problem has not yet been announced. The early substitution is nevertheless a worrying development for Enrique, particularly with Dembélé once again playing a major role in the Parisian side’s European campaign.
There was an additional twist to the substitution: Torres joined PSG from Barcelona in August 2026 and was therefore sent into the action against his former club. Before tonight’s match, Dembélé had scored in six consecutive Champions League appearances for PSG, leaving him only one game short of Edinson Cavani’s club record of seven.
