Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United appoints former Safa Technical Director as its Head of Football Strategy 'to improve the club's direction'
Walter Steenbok has joined Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United as its Director of Football Strategy.
The former Safa Technical Director joins Babina Noko having been linked with moves to PSL sides in Siwelele FC and Chippa United.
But it was ambitious Sekhukhune United who have secured Steenbok’s signature.
“Sekhukhune United F.C. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Walter Gaboinewe Steenbok as its new Director of Football Strategy, reinforcing the club’s commitment to long-term excellence and high-performance football,” a clubs statement reads.
“Dr Steenbok brings over two decades of experience in coaching, technical leadership, scouting, and football administration. He has held senior roles at top South African clubs and within National football structures, contributing significantly to talent identification, youth development, and modern football systems.
“He holds a PhD in Sports Science and has participated in leading FIFA, CAF, and UEFA technical programmes.
“He will lead the talent pathway, scouting, and high-performance programme. Chairman Simon Malatji shared his excitement at the appointment of an experienced football strategist, and hopes the appointment will aid the development of Sekhukhune to greater heights.
“This appointment marks a significant step in the club’s ambition to build a sustainable and competitive football institution.”
