Bernard Parker seeks maiden victory as TS Galaxy coach as they face title chasing Mamelodi Sundowns
Bernard Parker is on a mission to stamp his authority as a coach.
And the former Kaizer Chiefs striker is yet to register a win for Galaxy since taking over on interim basis at The Rockets in the beginning of May.
Parker has not won a game for his side since replacing Adnan Beganovic on the eve of the Nedbank Cup final, which they lost 2-1 to Durban City.
This evening presents Parker with an opportunity to throw his name in the history books as a Mamelodi Sundowns scalp this evening at Mbombela Stadium may give just that.
Sundowns are desperate for points in the title race as they atop of the PSL standings and looking fend of Orlando Pirates' pursuit of this season's honours.
The Brazilians are on 68 points which is three less than Pirates and a win today needs them to score as many goals as possible to boost their goal difference.
Actually, both teams can finish on 71 points should they win all their remaining games and it will be the goal difference which decides the ultimate winner.
But it is unlikely Parker would want his charges to enter the 2010 World Cup venue with sluggish approach as he chases his maiden victory as a gaffer.
Also, Galaxy are not as safe from the relegation quagmire as they are on the 12th spot with 28 points from 28 matches.
So it will be an interesting game as both teams have their reputations to keep intact but ultimately there has to be a winner.
The match starts at 7.30pm.
