Barcelona will endeavor to retain Portuguese forward Joao Felix in their squad, yet the club's financial standing might pose a stumbling block for the Blaugrana. In the current scenario, Barcelona cannot authorize deals for either Joao Felix or Joao Cancelo, necessitating Atletico's consent for another loan. However, this might only materialize if Felix extends his contract with his current club, preserving his value for Los Rojiblancos.
Felix, estranged from Atletico, further distanced himself from his native club after scoring the decisive goal in a match between the teams. Following his goal, Atletico's head coach Diego Simeone refused to acknowledge his former player, whom he had vigorously tried to nurture for success. Despite this, Atletico's president, Enrique Cerezo, stated that Felix would return if Barcelona fails to sign the player permanently.
Joao Felix's contract stands as the second most expensive in history among teenagers, trailing only Kylian Mbappe. Atletico acquired the player's rights from Benfica in the summer of 2019 for €127.2 million. However, despite the lofty price tag, the Portuguese talent fell short of significant expectations and was loaned to Chelsea for six months and now to Barcelona for a year. Currently, according to Transfermarkt, his value stands at €40 million.
