Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz already has one foot at Juventus, but the Villans want to maximise the benefits of the deal.

Aston Villa reportedly wanted one of the Torino midfielders in return, but according to Sky Sports, the deal has become somewhat complicated. Weston McKennie refused to move to Birmingham, while Matias Sule was unwilling to be sold by Juventus themselves.

But, Unai Emery has identified other players he would like to see in his squad. Samuel Illing-Junior has already agreed a move to Aston Villa, while negotiations on Enzo Barrenechea are still ongoing.

In total, Juventus need to invest in the neighbourhood of €65 million in the Douglas Luiz deal - in money or players.

Aston Villa are also now finalising deals for Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen, as well as a swap with Everton that includes midfielder Tim Iroegbunam and striker Lewis Dobbin.
